This term refers to the fraction of the total demand in the system that is being drawn off at the different nodes under 'normal' conditions. For purpose of illustration, assume that there are three nodes in a system, and that the total demand rate is 200 l/s. At node 1, 70 l/s is drawn off; at node 2, 110 l/s and at node 3, 20 l/s. Then the distribution of consumption among the nodes is; node 1, 35%, node 2, 55%; and node 3, 10%.
