Tank size and levels

Additional information pertaining to tanks in the system must now be entered. Select Simulation Data > Simulation Data in Model Tables > Tank Parameters. This opens the Tank table. Browse to the point where Time Simulation Data can be entered. For the two tanks, enter the following:

For Tank 1 (the WTP fixed level tank or water source), enter a Tsim Bottom Elevation (m) of 100 m. Leave the other default settings as is, i.e. values of 0 for Tsim Min Water Level, Tsim Max Water Level, TSim Initial Water Level, Tsim Surface Area and Tsim Min Volume.

For Tank 8, enter a Tsim Bottom Elevation (m) of 180 m, a Tsim Min Water Level of 0 m, a Tsim Max  Water Level of 11 m, and a Tsim Surface Area of 1500 . Set the TSim Initial Water Level at 10 m. Leave the other settings at their default values.

As the pump control (which still has to be defined) allows operation of the tank only between 0 and 10 m, the tank has an effective volume of 1500 m² x 10 m = 15000 m³ (or 15000 kL). The AADD can be estimated as 10 nodes x 10L/s = 100 L/s = 8640 kL/d. Therefore, the tank volume allows for 41.67h at AADD consumption.
