Hydraulic Convergence

Convergence to sufficient accuracy typically requires five to seven iterations. There is no penalty in this number for system size, nor for the presence of pumps. The presence of pressure reducing valves and check valves may add, at most, one or two iterations, but only if the valves operate near a point where they change their status (like a pressure reducing valve with an upstream pressure only slightly higher than the pressure setting of the valve). The presence of flow control valves may, however, influence the number of iterations required to reach a certain accuracy.
