Program history, purpose and capabilities

Wadiso is a comprehensive computer program for the analysis and design of water distribution systems. It allows for steady state analysis, optimization, extended time simulation and water quality simulation of complex distribution systems. A Graph Module is available for viewing e.g. pump graphs and time series of simulation results. The program is specifically designed for use on personal computers. The input and output data structure of the program is in graphical, database and/or ASCII format, and therefore compatible with CAD or GIS applications. Results produced by the program can also be viewed and interpreted graphically via a built-in environment offering both CAD and GIS functionalities.

In this Chapter, the following topics are discussed:

The composition of the Wadiso program

Scope of the help manual

Historic notes on Wadiso

Head loss equations/flow formula

Numeric method for balancing pressures and flows

Time and water quality simulation technique

Optimization technique

Status of Wadiso
