Including tank cost into the Optimization

In the most advanced formulation of the optimization routine employed by Wadiso, the cost of water storage (i.e. tanks and reservoirs) can be included in the optimization, in addition to pipe cost and energy cost. Just like for pumping cost, there exists a trade-off between pipe cost and storage cost. In general smaller, less expensive pipe size combinations will require larger, more expensive storage tanks for balancing peaks in the water demand. Wadiso can calculate such balancing capacity very efficiently for each size combination which passes the size test, and add the cost for storage tanks to the cost of pipes and pumping cost. This optional advanced usage of Wadiso is described in the Including Tank Cost in the Optimization section. It is recommended that the user first becomes acquainted with optimization as described here in this section, before proceeding to tank size optimization.
