Source (Reservoir)

A water distribution system of which the storage tanks have to be optimally sized, has to have at least one source of water. This may for instance be the clear-well at a water purification plant, or a take-off from the main transmission system of some regional water distribution scheme. A source has to be entered in the simulation routine as a fixed head node, and to distinguish it from a tank, which has to be sized, it should be given a zero water level. (Refer to term "Reservoir" under definition of steady state analysis terms).
