Storage Tank (Tank)

In a water distribution system of which the tanks have to be sized, all such tanks have to be entered in the simulation routine as fixed head nodes. To distinguish them from the source or sources, which feed the system and are also fixed head nodes, these tanks have to be given a positive water level (See also definition of "Tank" under definition of steady state analysis terms). For tank size optimization, it is also very important that there must be only one pipe linking such a tank to the system. The tanks cannot be in-line.

A further important requirement which only applies to tank size optimization, is that the tank node must have a higher number than the node at the other end of the single pipe which links it to the system.
