The optimization module selects pipe sizes for system expansions at minimum cost, which will meet user-specified pressure requirements, under one or several design loads. Cost considered in the optimization include those for pipes, and if desired, for pumping energy and/or storage tanks. The optimization routine may also provide alternative solutions, which are near the optimum.
