The Link Controls are statements which dictate how the system is operated over time. There are three categories of such controls, namely:
•Time Controls: These can be used to switch ON/OFF pumps (or define a relative speed), to OPEN/CLOSE pipes, depending on the time into the simulation, or on the clock time, e.g. OPEN pipe 1423 at time 13.5 hours into the simulation, or change the speed of pump 43 to 1.5 at clock time 10:00.
•Simple Controls: These can be used to control links on the basis of tank water levels, or pressures at nodes, e.g. switch pump 15 ON when level of tank 12 drops below 7.4 m.
•Rule-Based Controls: These allow link status and settings to be based on a combination of conditions which might exist in the system. For instance, the tank level at which a pump is switched on can be changed with these rules, depending on the clock time of day.
