The optimization routine requires the designation of seven types of optimization data, viz.:
Some of the optimization data are directly associated with elements of the system model, and are also saved as part of the system data. This includes:
- The group no. that each pipe belongs to (Pipes not to be seized belong to Group O).
- The cost function each pipe is assigned to.
- The load cases (outputs) up to 5 at each node for which the system has to be designed/optimized.
- The minimum pressures – up to 5 at each node, which the system has to comply with.
- The efficiency of each pump, for purposes of energy cost calculations.
- The % of time each pump runs under the up to 5 different load cases.
- Information related to tank sizing.
Other optimization data that cannot be directly linked to system elements are saved separately in an optimization file, and includes:
- The candidate pipe sizes for each group.
- The Pareto Optimal tolerances for cost and pressure.
- Information related to tank sizing.
Both the system related and optimization specific data can be edited in the spreadsheet editors provided. The system related data can also be entered/edited in the Albion environment, either individually for each link/node, or by using the selection options available.
Cost functions for pipe installation, pumping energy and storage tanks are entered/edited/saved in the Cost Data module of the program, and also form an integral part of the data requirements for optimization.
