The Pumping Cost Settings can be accessed by selecting Cost Data > Edit Cost Data Settings and then clicking on the Pumping Cost tab.
Present value of pumping energy cost is calculated in order to take account of the trade-off between pumping cost and pipe cost, where applicable. The parameters to be entered/edited are:
•Energy Cost: The average energy cost for pumps in Monetary Units per kWh. The kWh in kWh refers to the hydraulic power which a pump is exerting, divide by the wire-to-water efficiency of the pump, or in other words the electrical power drawn by the pump.
where
ρ = Mass density of the liquid
g = Gravitational acceleration (9,81m/s²)
Q = Pumping flow rate (m³/s)
H = Pump head (m)
η = Wire-to-water efficiency of pump (as specified in optimization data)
•Discount rate: This is the interest rate (i) in % per year which is used by the program to calculate the present value (PV) of energy cost.
•Term: This is the period (N) in years over which the energy cost is accumulated and discounted to present value (PV).
Where
i = (Discount rate in % per year) / 100
N = Term in years
