Edisan is a comprehensive electricity distribution analysis package used for optimal design and simulation of electricity networks. By utilising a graphical CAD/GIS-based environment, the program integrates analysis, steady-state and time simulation, network optimisation and statistical diversity modelling into a single tool for electrical engineers.

The program includes the following features:

• Network analyses to determine voltages, currents and losses. Visualisation of system layout and analysis results are represented in a geospatial environment.
• Fault study analysis, whilst taking into account protection settings for a given network.
• Modelling tools which allow for steady-state and time simulation.
• Advanced statistical diversity calculation methods for load modelling of residential areas.
• Optimisation of distribution losses, cable sizes, voltage drop and equipment sizes for planning purposes.
• Automatic generation of single line diagrams of a captured network.
• Extraction of modelling parameters from billing data.
• Integration with IMQS management information viewer.
• Edisan is continually being further developed and maintained in South Africa by GLS Software for a local and international client base.
