Typical Optimization Session

An overview of the steps required to optimize a network using Wadiso is given below:

Enter or retrieve the system’s steady state data;

Run a steady state analysis, i.e. balance the system;

Enter or retrieve cost data;

Enter or retrieve optimization data;

Run optimization; and

View the optimization results and (optionally) transfer them to the steady state data.

Entering the optimization data can be further divided into the following steps:

Identify pipes to be optimized by assigning them to groups;

Assign a cost function for each pipe to be sized;

Specify allowable candidate sizes for each of the groups to be sized;

Specify loading cases (water demands) for which the pipes have to be sized;

Set pressure constraints; and

Set parameters for queue of Pareto Optimal solutions.
